A heartfelt message wriiten by Wendy's son, Milo:

Wendy was a style icon and the queen of Third Street.

For more than 45 years, she made every person who walked through the doors of Polkadots & Moonbeams feel like the center of the universe. Her energy was infectious. She was always dancing to the music, hips swaying as she disappeared into the racks to find “just one more thing” for you to try on.

She had this extraordinary gift for seeing people—not just how they looked, but how they wanted to feel. She was a listener, a cheerleader, a confidante, and above all, someone who made people feel beautiful.

Wendy built her store the same way she built everything else in her life: by trusting her instincts. With a $3,000 loan from her grandmother Dorothy, she took a chance on herself and created something extraordinary. More than 40 years later, while nearly every storefront around her changed, Polkadots & Moonbeams remained THE STORE of Third Street—a reflection of Wendy’s spirit, her resilience, and her forever-young energy. To us, and to everyone who knew her, she was always 39.

She had a gift for bringing together kind, talented people and creating a space filled with warmth, laughter, honesty, and joy. Customers became friends. Employees became family. Generations of women came through her doors looking for an outfit and left feeling more confident, more seen, more themselves—and, of course, 100% sexier.

As her sons, we knew that the magic people felt in the store was the same magic she brought home: the music, the dancing, the honesty, the encouragement, and the belief that life should be very very fun, spontaneous, beautiful, and always fabulous.

Her legacy lives on in the community she built, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless people she reminded every single day that they were fabulous, glamorous, and accidentally sexy.

 We will miss her endlessly.

Polkadots & Moonbeams was built with Wendy's love, creativity, and passion for bringing joy to others. We are committed to carrying that spirit forward and are grateful for your continued support during this difficult time.

With love and gratitude,

The Polkadots & Moonbeams Family
